KINK OUT: LEATHER LIT DAY

As an extension of Kink Out’s residency at MoMA PS1, which will culminate with Kink Out: SPACES on February 9, LEATHER LIT DAY brings together kink and sex working people and allies for a day of storytelling, zine making, and community building. RSVP for reminders below!

PROGRAM

2–5pm
Zine making, facilitated by Niko Flux
Letter writing to incarcerated sex workers, facilitated by Red

3-5pm
Storytelling open mic, hosted by Ashley Paige

ZINE MAKING
Zines are both whimsical and powerful tools in queer and sex worker communities. Inherently anti-establishment, these DIY magazines circulate to connect communities with art, literature, news, health and safety information, and activism. Queer leather zines like FIST (fistzine.com) and TOKEN (from 1998), have shared the identities of sadomasochists, pups, and punks, and the poetry that brews from blood, piss, queer bodies, and bondage. A selection of these zines, curated by Red, are available in Artbook for perusal and purchase.

LETTER WRITING
By writing a letter of support to an incarcerated sex worker, we can let community members know they are not forgotten. Writers are asked to keep letters positive, not to out people as sex workers, and set realizable expectations. Additional information and guidelines provided by the Support Ho(s)e Collective can be found at the letter-writing station.

STORYTELLING
Storytellers can sign up on the day and are encouraged to respond to the prompt, “My leather or sex worker origin story.”
